Wednesday, 10/22 Orionid Meteor Shower maximum, around 5 a.m.
Only a thin Crescent Moon is there to interfere, so this may be a good year for the Orionids. Orion is high in the south-southwestern sky before dawn. The meteors seem to radiate from a point above or north of Orion's right shoulder, Betelgeuse. It isn't a huge shower typically, but perhaps 25 swift meteors per hour at the peak can be seen.
